"My time on the team to Guatemala with BMDMI was simply amazing. When I was initially invited to join the team, I experienced the full range of emotions – from being excited to trying to use every excuse I could find to not go. I had justified to myself that there were more reasons not to go – such as not speaking the language, never having flown before, not knowing where I would sleep or eat. Deep down, I knew that I was meant to be a part of this team and go on this trip, but I kept putting off the decision. To top it off, I was in the process of building my house. Traveling to Guatemala was just an inconvenience to my overall personal plan.
God had a different plan, and I ultimately made the decision to join the team. Once I was fully committed, I had such a peace about the whole thing.
Looking back on the trip now, I feel that God used me to help another man fulfill his dream as our team helped a man named Abel build a house for his family. Just as I had many people help me build my house and fulfil my own dream, Abel had our team to make that happen for him. I am so thankful to have had a small part in building a church for Abel to use to bring the good news of Christ to that village and area."
